What is a Buffer?
Slide1.jpeg

Buffers are solutions capable of resisting changes in pH (when a small amount of an acid or base is added) by shifting the equilibrium of a reversible reaction.

A buffer solution is able to resist the change in [H₃O⁺] or [OH⁻] from the addition of an acid/base.
